Flux plates with low λ had significantly lower values of G in both lab and field experiments. The Philip correction for heat flow divergence did not fully compensate for errors due to low plate λ. Correction for heat storage above flux plates can be larger than the flux at the plate. Direct measurement of C with the dual source probe agreed with de Vries' C estimate and can be used for real-time heat storage correction without measuring soil water content.
