The Kamena - Masola metasediments have been subjected to intense deformation resulting in strong foliation and recumbent and overturned folding. The general trend of foliation and schistosity in the Kamena -Masola area is northeast-southwest. The northeast-southwest structures are in places displaced by northwesterly trending structures of the Pan African Lufilian Orogeny. Contained in the metasediments are pegmatites, which commonly occur as lensoids. The pegmatites rarely form continuous tabular bodies; are small, varying from 10 to 50m in length and rise above the ground up to 6m high. Most of the pegmatites have been exploited for beryl, tourmaline and garnet. A database consisting of lineaments in the Kamena-Masola area was interpreted directly from remote sensing data. At least two major lineament orientations, NNE-ENE and NNW-WNW, are present. A buffering technique was used to narrow down target areas for pegmatite mapping in unmapped areas.
