Environmental remote sensing was introduced to Africa in different ways like commercial, educational, project based researches and the likes. The advancement in remote sensing technology played an important role to analyse the extent of environmental degradation and look for solutions. Although the value of such technological output is understood by most of users, planners, decision makers etc. there are number of challenges which hindered from advancement of the technology. The major challenges are found to be related with social, economic, technological and environmental and they have got direct and indirect relationship. To overcome such problems measures need to be taken in national, regional as well continental level. Otherwise the sustainability of the ones up on a time mushrooming remote sensing centres can be questionable.
