This document describes the vision of the satellite component of IMT-Advanced for an efficient DVIT service delivery with respect to application scenarios, services, system, radio and network interface aspects.This document also provides possible candidate system architectures to address the high-level of constraints placed on the satellite radio interface(s) of IMT-Advanced, particularly with respect to service and technical requirements.One exampleof radio interface for the satellite component of IMT-Advanced currently being studied in ITU-R WP 4B is the satellite radio interface SAT-OFDM.The SAT-OFDM is a satellite radio interface to provide various advanced mobile telecommunication services defined for the IMT satellite environments.The SAT-OFDM radio interface adopts orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) in the downlink and single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) in the uplink.This radio interface has a high degree of commonality with the terrestrial radio specifications, 3GPP long term evolution (LTE) technology for IMT-Advanced services, but it also has a number of different features which are necessary to reflect the satellite-specific characteristics.Other examplesof radio interface for the satellite component of IMT-Advanced may be submitted to ITU-R WP 4B until the deadline of May 2012 mentioned in section 2.
