摘要

The Casecan Multipurpose Project located in the northern part of Luzon (Philippines) on rivers carrying heavy sediment loads during the monsoon and typhoon season includes two small storage capacity at Casecnan and Taan weir. To minimise sedimentation in the reservoirs, the spillways have been kept at a low level. Additionally five underground desilting basins operating under pressure have been built to trap more than 90% of the sediments having a diameter greater than 0.25 mm for maximum flow conditions of 80 m~3/s. The design is based on theoretical approach and further checked using hydraulic model tests. The design approach and some results of the hydraulic studies are presented in this paper.
