摘要

This paper deals with the major problems arising in connection with design of the dam projects on the heavily sediment-laden rivers and offers some methods of solving these problems. One of such objectives is prediction of reservoir sedimentation. Such a prediction could be made using the RUS-1 programme developed in the Institute Hydroproject, which is based on the Rossinsky mathematical model. The paper outlines the methodology of assessing susceptibility of the turbine equipment to damage by sediments basing on estimated time to repair for the turbine equipment. Structural and layout solutions are described, which were developed by the Institute Hydroproject basing on the studies carried out in the Scientific-Research Institute of Energy Structures for a number of the Dam Projects on the Nile river. Given in the paper are new solutions developed for protection of the turbine water passages against impact of sediments by settling basins. The shop-fabricated steel pipes are proposed to sluice the sediments.
