摘要

In this paper results from the first industrial comparison on coordinate measurements, in Italy, are introduced. The comparison, named 'Audit Italiano', was co-operatively organised by DIMEG - University of Padova - and the Italian "CMM Club" Association, and carried out from December 1999 to December 2000. A total of 22 coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), participating in the project, were used to measure a set of four items selected as to represent a variety of basic dimensional and geometrical quantities. The items, courtesy of the Polytechnic of Copenhagen, DTU, had already been used in a former industrial round-robin, held in Scandinavian countries. The analysis of measurement data, showing good compatibility with the former comparison, emphasise the critical influence of operators on the quality of coordinate measurement results: comprehension of GD&T specifications, measurement task definition, measurement planning, measurement uncertainty estimation and budgeting gave severe problems to some companies. The interest of participants, particularly focused on comparing their measurement ability with that of reference laboratories and, secondarily, on the training of personnel, promote the use of industrial comparison as a mean to assess competence as well as lack of metrological education in industry.
