摘要

Despite being invented and developed in Asia Pacific, Self Consolidating Concrete (SCC) has resulted in a more significant impact on the construction industries in North America, the Middle East and Europe. Its country of origin, Japan, is so far rather conservative on applying SCC. On the other hand, an obvious fluctuation between sub-regions and countries within Asia Pacific is observed, where in some countries application of SCC is on a steep rise,stagnant in others, and yet to be discovered for a few.This paper reflects on the current status of SCC in the sub-regions of Asia Pacific, with particular focus on the technical details of local adaptations applied to industrial SCC.Corresponding case studies are presented, thus, the paper maps applications of powder-type-,VMA-modified- and mixed-type-SCC. We attempt to explain why SCC has limited appreciation in Japan as of today, while giving a comprehensive outlook for Asia Pacific with regard to newest technologies recently introduced to the market. Lean SCC and self leveling construction methods for mass concrete, which have already started to find a quick acceptance by the regional construction industry, are reviewed in that respect as well.
