We first demonstrated experimentally comparison of correction factor kn (=Aeff/πw2) between Aeff and MFD (=2w) for photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) and conventional fibers. The kn of PCFs is found to be greater than 1.0, and therefore PCF's optical power distributions are not Gaussian.
