摘要

This paper reports on a qualification method for a smart camera system based on six sigma principles. The purpose of this method is to find a general trial length for a smart camera implementation. At the successful conclusion of this trial, one may be assured that the smart camera implementation will operate at a six sigma statistical quality level if the inspection task is not drastically changed. This paper is motivated by the potential to provide a smart camera integrator with a quantitative assurance of the quality of an application. This assurance can be communicated to both operators and engineering management. The method will depend entirely on the characteristics of the smart camera used, so as to be independent of the type of application being considered by the system.
