摘要

The conduct of a systemic inquiry using formal System of Systems Engineering (SoSE) analysis for complex systems requires purposeful governance. This paper examines how a formal methodology for SoSE was used to conduct a rigorous analysis of a complex real-world systems problem.The SoSE Methodology was recently prototyped by Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic (SSC-LANT). The SoSE Methodology established the logic and procedural elements used in the conduct of the engineering analysis of a complex system of systems. The execution elements of the SoSE Methodology invoked a number of rigorous methods which served to both expose the problem under study and provide analysis methods that would produce actionable results. The SoSE Methodology provided the governance plans that ensured adequate direction, oversight, accountability, projection, and transformation functions occurred during the complex system inquiry.
