OFDM channel estimation in the presencernof phase noise is addressed in this paper. Therncommon phase error (CPE) introduced by the phasernnoise of receiver’s local oscillator degrades the performancernof existing MMSE channel estimators. Forrnrapid dispersive fading channels, such CPE can notrnbe compensated prior to channel estimation using existingrnCPE estimators that assume known or staticrnchannel. Towards this end, a novel CPE estimatorrnthat requires no explicit channel state informationrn(CSI) is developed. Also derived is a modified timedomainrnWiener filter that incorporates the CPE effectrnfor composite channel estimation. Computer simulationsrndemonstrate that the proposed scheme performsrnwell under various phase noise and channel settings.rnIn fact, the MSE of composite channel estimates isrncomparable to that without CPE.
