To increase the effectiveness ofrnforward error correction (FEC) schemes,rnadaptive FEC schemes have been suggested,rnwhere the amount of redundancy is controlledrnaccording to the current network status. In thisrnpaper, we propose and evaluate the performancernof a gap-based adaptive FEC scheme and showrnits superiority over the Gilbert model basedrnadaptive FEC scheme.
