We propose an algorithm to compute the optimalrntransform when some of the coefficients are randomlyrnunavailable for reconstruction. The typical applica-rntion scenario is a packet communication link wherernthe coefficients are the payload of lost packets. Therndiscrete transform, obtained from a gradient search,rnfrom knowledge of the channel loss statistics, providesrnprotection by means of introduction of correlationrnamong the coefficients. A set of simulations showsrnappreciable improvements over standard schemes onrna one-dimensional Markov process.
