We consider tracking a doubly-selective channelrngiven a transmission stream which alternates between data andrnpilot blocks. Current and previous pilots, as well as previouslydecodedrndata blocks, are used for estimation of channel parameters.rnThe optimal Kalman and Wiener estimators for thisrnscenario are computationally expensive. In response, we proposerna novel two-stage estimation technique whose performance isrnclose to that of the optimal estimators but whose complexity isrnsignificantly less. The first stage finds smoothed estimates of thernchannel during previous frames, while the second stage uses thesernsmoothed estimates for channel prediction within the currentrnframe.
