The sessile drop method was used to study wettability of graphite, cubic boron nitride and zirconium dioxide with aluminum and copper-gallium-titanium melts in a vacuum. The peculiarities of contact interaction between the (Cu-18Ga)-Ti melt and zirconium dioxide have been studied by the metallographic method and X-ray diffraction analysis. Our findings have allowed the conclusion that capillary characteristics of the zirconium dioxide-metal melt system are to a high degree defined by the quantity of vacancies with respect to oxygen of a nonstoichiometric nature in the anion sublattice of zirconium dioxide.
