Every 10 kg of La(Fe_(11.1)Co_(0.8)Si_(1.1))B_(0.25) alloys were melted by intermediate frequency furnace (2500 Hz). One batch of the melted alloys was casted into ingots with thickness of 10 mm in copper mold. Another batch of the melted alloys was strip-casted into thin strips by a water-cooling copper roller. The samples prepared were annealed at 1070 ℃ for 150 h and 30 h respectively. Results indicate that different annealing time does not have much influence on magnetocaloric effect of La(Fe_(11.1)Co_(0.8)Si_(1.1))B_(0.25) alloys. SEM and EPMA analysis shows that the samples are composed of 1:13 main phase, La-rich phase and Fe-rich phase. The La-rich phase contains lanthanum (La), iron (Fe), cobalt (Co) and silicon (Si). The Fe-rich phase mainly contains Fe and small amount of Co. All boron (B) elements are in Fe-rich phase. The isothermal entropy change △S_m and the adiabatic temperature change △T_(ad) of the mold-casting samples of La(Fe_(11.1)Co_(0.8)Si_(1.1))B_(0.25) alloy are larger than those of the strip-casting samples of La(Fe_(11.1)Co_(0.8)Si_(1.1))B_(0.25) alloy.
