摘要

The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) established the Aeronautical Science Key Laboratory for Smart Materials & Structures at Nanjing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics (NUAA) in 1997 to enhance the advance researches in the field of smart materials and structures. The research activities and recent developments in the Key Laboratory are briefly introduced first for the purposes of information exchanges. Attentions are then focused on the structural health monitoring and its closely related fields, such as sensor and actuator technology. Some experimental results are presented and discussed. An active on-line damage detection system is also presented. The paper is ended with closing remarks.
