Acoustic signatures of aerodynamic and power transmission noise sources are very different.rnSpecial combination of sound quality metrics is needed to explain their combined effect. Tornstudy this problem more in-depth, the rotorcraft passenger cabin noise example is analyzed as itrnis dominated by both types of responses. The aim of this study is to identify which class ofrnmetrics is the best quality predictor for sound fields with combined aerodynamic and powerrntransmission responses. To achieve this goal, a series of jury evaluation tests based on the pairedrncomparison analysis are performed on a wide variety of rotorcraft interior sounds as stimuli. Atrnthe same time, various new and existing sound quality metrics were computed from thernmeasured sound data. A multivariate regression analysis was applied to determine a suitablernpredictor model that correlates well with the normalized mean jury preference scores. Thernresults, not only provided a better understanding of the controlling attributes in the combinedrnaerodynamic and power transmission sound field, it can be used as a guide to identify the class ofrnmetrics that provides a reliable measure of subjective response.
