摘要

Dofasco had conventionally used bricks for the ladle safety and working linings and has completed a project, converting the 21 safety linings of the ladle streams to a 'Shotcrete' Alumina Spinel material. A revolutionary new installation technique and materials have been developed in partnership with the refractory supplier, to provide a smooth surface with close thickness tolerances that eliminates the requirement for backfill between the safety and working lining. The new process is a combination of Shotcrete and casting where the refractory is installed inside vertical tongue and groove panels at exact thickness with no slumping or rebound issues. The ladle safety lining can be installed in one day due to this new installation method. The dryout of the safety lining is completed at the same time that the working lining is cured, enabling the ladle to return to service several days earlier than the conventional casting technology.
