摘要

It was believed that local landscape architecture benefits from globalization. However, more and more evidences show a possible consequence, that is, globalization might destroy the characters of local landscape architecture, thereby cause a decrease in diversity. In this paper, it focuses on the negative influence of globalization on local landscape architecture and the solution to preserve local characters. The paper reviews the history of globalization and landscape architecture in globalization, and critically analyses the potential consequence of local character reduction caused by landscape architectural globalization. The characteristic loss in modern Chinese landscape architecture is mentioned as a case study. This research suggests that local character preservation is proposed to keep landscape diversity under globalization. Therefore, how to keep local characters while learning and benefiting from globalization is a key issue in conclusion.
