A company has to overcome many hurdles in order to compete in today's world class manufacturing arean. It is critical that a global competitive organization be supported by an enterprise level Integrated Information System. Client/Server (C/S) Systems provide a modular distributed information system and a decision support platform for integrated enterprises. This paper provides an overview of the primary C/S System elements. Several applications of the C/S technology are presented and discussed. Four C/S Systems presented are: SIngle client, ssingle server Multiple clients and servers at a regional level Multiple clients and servers in two neighboring countries Multiple clients and servers at the global level.
