Although powder coating is not a new finishing technology as they have been commercially applied to metal substrates since the 1960s. New chemistries and processes have made this ecologically safe coating technique an option to finish non-traditional substrates such as plastic and wood composites. This paper will explore the chemistry, processes and performance of emerging powder technology for wood-based substrates.
