Lactobacillus acidophilus strain is one of the most commonly used probiotics. L. acidophilus is linked to decreased instances of vaginal yeast infection, gastrointestinal dysfunction and even boosting immune function. Common food sources of L. acidophilus include yogurt and fermented soy products, such as miso and tempeh. There are many species of Lactobacillus acidophilus bacteria that are found in a variety of environments, from dairy products to the human gastrointestinal tract (GI). Identification of L. acidophilus species from different sources is important that will supply their different products to contibute in medicinal and life sciences. Therefore, this study was to find the DNA profiles in Lactobacillus acidophilus ATCC 4356 and Lactobacillus acidophilus VTCC-B-871 by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis. Besides, using a probe having 400 base pairs (bp) of minD gene from Lactobacillus rhamnosus JCM 1553, Southern blotting and hybridization were performed. There were a difference between two tested Lactobacillus acidophilus.
