IntroductionSince the new century, continuous casting has been developed rapidly in China. The output of slab & billet reached 474.30Mt and the CC ratio of steel industry reached 98.8% in 2007. With increase of the proportion of the flat product consumption, large amount of slab, bloom, round billet, beam blank and thin-slab continuous casters have been put into operation. It promotes not only the large capacity of steelmaking equipment but also the large capacity of ironmaking equipment. At the same time, the process between the steelmaking and rolling became more compact through hot charging, because of steady improvement of the quality of slabs and development of high-temperature defect-free slab technology. Further optimization of steel production process has been promoted by the development of continuous casting promotes. It can be said that continuous casting has been continuing to promote the rapid development of Chinese steel industry since the new century.
