摘要

Today, a number of Powerline networking solutions are appear to give credibility to the idea that Powerline has finally come of age. These offerings include a robust and reliable high bandwidth solution capable of very low cost implementation in domestic appliances. Embedded powerline networking will leverage interoperability and internet accessibility via the residential network to allow feature-rich, upgradeable functionality that adds value, increases performance and improves competitiveness, without significantly increasing cost. The advent of Smart Appliances heralds an era where human interaction and behaviour in our homes particularly in the kitchen will be nothing short of revolutionary. As with all such revolutions, it's only with hindsight that the 'killer applications' can be predicted, but it's certain that the design and function of consumer appliances will change forever. This paper helps the design engineer gain a thorough understanding of embedded Powerline networking systems suitable for highly cost sensitive applications.
