摘要

Hot surface igniters have a long history of successful applications, for gas ignition, in many types of gas appliances and heating systems. The vast majority of these igniter applications are in North American residential units. The typical hot surface igniter is a silicon carbide device operating at 115 to 120 volts. Responding to market needs and technological advances, recent developments have introduced a new family of miniaturized hot surface igniters. These mini igniter products operating at lower power and 12 to 240 volts offer fast time to temperature characteristics coupled with a durable ceramic/intermetallic material system. The major goal, which has been achieved, has been to produce an igniter with a: 1.) high operating voltage for the European appliance and heating markets and the North American commercial market (208-240V), 2.) wide operating range of voltage to promote application flexibility and long life and 3.) durable design to promote ease of manufacture and use.
