Multi material injection molding today is used more and more to obtain moldings with dissimilar material properties, like soft-hard combinations, combine virgin material as the skin with regrind as the core component or function integration. Manufacturing cost can be reduced drastically because fewer operations are necessary or different steps can be combined in one process. The paper will focus on 2 innovative technologies applied to injection molded components: 1. AIRPRESS III is a patented process featuring gas assisted injection molding. 2. The Horizontal turntable is a new manufacturing method in multi component injection molding.
