摘要

This paper presents an overview of advanced composite technology application for a future European Reusable Launch Vehicle structures. Assessments of the potential ability of various technologies to satisfy the technology requirements of the vehicle, and their current technology readiness are being assessed by ESA under the Future Launchers Preparatory Programme (FLPP). Design sensitivity of advanced materials with external Thermal Protection System (TPS), mass complexity, performance characteristic and optimisation is evaluated. Emphasis is placed on the use of high stiffness CFRP materials in the primary structure because of its weight advantage and ease of handling.
