With the increase in subscribers and their needs in high bit rates, optical fibre is more and more used in the network access. FTTH (Fiber To The Home) is today a reality and fiber also penetrates in building with new optical technologies. People needs better services as the High Definition television, digital services like Internet, video services, on-line gaming, VoIP, networking, etc. This paper focuses on the building cabling solution tested in field trial with friendly users. The first part of the section explains why the use of optical fibre is becoming a reality until residential area. Then, the paper describes the different cabling infrastructures in building deployed in residential buildings: it presents a blowing method, which is a new optical cabling technology that offers the possibility of great flexibility for cabling. We will also speak about standard cabling system based on floor distributor. The next part shows a permanent access cable solution. We will explain the benefits of using these technologies. At last, it deals with a comparison of these optical building cabling solutions. Moreover, this field trial permitted to select products and change some materials for FTTH pilot in Paris. So the cabling infrastructure generally uses copper cables: Ethernet or VDSL technologies. But, for the very high data rates, the optical support is compulsory. The installation of optical media is becoming an increasing reality for residential customers.
