摘要

Since its founding in 1958, NASA has dedicated itself to transferring space program advancements to Earth-based applications. By following through on this commitment to technology transfer, NASA has provided valuable spin-offs from its technologies. These spin-offs have improved quality of life worldwide by benefiting health, criminal investigations, public safety, and much more. NASA is now pursuing its Vision for Space Exploration and must address many technical needs within a tight budget and schedule. These needs include materials and structures; communications, electronics, and sensors; modeling and automation; power, propulsion, and resource utilization; and analysis tools. Recent science and technology advancements in these areas have been made in medicine, electronics, consumer goods, manufacturing, and many other industry sectors. NASA is seeking partnerships with these organizations to work cooperatively on dual-use research projects. These innovative partnerships will leverage existing industry/academic capabilities and technologies to (1) accelerate the achievement of NASA's space exploration goals, (2) enhance economic development through partnerships with industry to use their technologies for NASA missions, and (3) facilitate the later spin-off of the resulting new technologies. To facilitate the formation of these partnerships, NASA has established an online Partnership Portal.
