In order to clarify persisting controversies about the existence of superoxide and peroxide ions in molten carbonates, we have attempted to obtain vibrational spectra of these entities by Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) technique. In situ experiments were carried out with solutions of potassium superoxide (KO_2) in molten (62+38)mol%(Li + K) carbonate eutectic at 650℃. Raman line at 1047 cm~(-1) appeared clearly after addition of KO_2. Observed Raman line was assigned to the stretching vibration of superoxide.
