Love waves are guided waves of horizontal shear polarization, usually propagating within a thin guiding layer of material attached to a substrate of higher shear velocity. Considering the anisotropic nature of the layers, a model based on perturbation theory for the mass sensitivity analysis of the Love wave sensor was developed in order to interpret the previous discrepancies between theory and experiment because of the use of isotropic theory to describe the material properties. Numerical calculation results were obtained and compared with the typical experiment results. The anisotropic theory prediction has the general trend mass sensitivity with the measurement. But it still cannot explain well the discrepancy with the measurement.
