Since 2003, an active phased array radar at KamisaibararnSpace Guard Centre (KSGC) has been used for LEOrndebris observation in Japan.rnJAXA evaluated the performance of the KSGC radar atrnits 10-year anniversary of debris observation.rnThis paper presents the evaluation of detection ability,rnmeasurement accuracy and tracking ability, and thernimprovement of tracking ability of the KSGC radar byrntuning parameters.rnIt is well known that the evaluation of the abilities andrnaccuracy are comparatively simple. However,rnimprovement of tracking ability requires know-how thatrncan only be attained through accumulation ofrnobservation facts and their analytical results.rnFor example, there are some non-negligible differencesrnbetween debris tracking and usual flying objects (i.e.rnairplanes) tracking. Namely, debris tracking can berncharacterized by the fact that its detective distance isrnextremely long, velocity is extremely high, fluctuationrnof relative attitude is unstable, etc.rnThis paper describes the above points, and morernspecifically, the evaluation method and logic forrnimproving system performance of the KSGC radar byrnusing debris observation data.
