This paper addresses the first results of the applicationrnof a generic methodology developed to assess the risk ofrnspace missions due to the threat of space debris. Thisrnwork is performed as part of the 30 months P2-ROTECTrnproject (Prediction, Protection & Reduction of OrbiTalrnExposure to Collision Threats) that was initiated inrnMarch 2011 within the EU seventh frameworkrnprogramme. The method is briefly presented through thernvulnerability assessment of the mission of arn"SENTINEL-1 type" sub system. Different mitigationrnscenarios are considered and their efficienciesrnquantified using the risk-oriented criteria. Numericalrnresults are presented and analysed to illustrate thernproposed approach.
