This paper presents a simplified analysis of the two phase influences affecting the settlement of infill slurry in high throughput unstirred conical slurry tanks. Included is a sensitivity analysis of the paramount slurry, tank and operation parameters. It is shown that the tank operation level and tank top diameter are key factors determining system performance. By proper selection of operation parameters high solids concentration discharge is possible. This high % solids discharge results in significant benefits to operators. These findings have major relevance to effecting improvements to numerous unstirred slurry tank, thickener underflows, settling and other tank / slurry systems.
