This paper reviews a number of alternative designs that are currently available for conveyor rollers and frames. Specifically it considers how these designs might impact on issues such as materials, resistance to rotation, bearings, wear, noise, quality systems, maintainability and cost. Some comments on the development of stronger supplier/user relationships are also provided.
