CNES operates a set of ground stations and multimissionrnfacilities used for both station control andrnLEOP operations of satellites. These ground stations arerncurrently monitored and controlled by REGATES, arnnew system replacing a 15 year old system calledrnGASCON.rnThe contract for the delivery and the full deployment ofrnthe REGATES system was awarded to Capgemini,rnToulouse Space Unit, in March 2003. Increased reliability constraints introduced by thernmanpower centralization in Toulouse facilities andrnincreased operability for unmanned stationsrnoperations capabilities,rn? Trouble-free operations during the technical and thernoperational qualification phases of the new system,rn? Increased efficiency in the ground stations M&Crnactivities leading to a significant cost reduction ofrnground systems operations.rnWith these constraints in mind, REGATES introduces arnnew set of capabilities:rn? Innovative, fully Java based Man MachinernInterfaces, jointly defined by the Capgemini WebrnStudio and the future REGATES operators,rn? Up-to-date platform running on Linux and designedrnfor 10 years of operations,rn? In addition to local and remote control modes, fullyrnautomated stations M&C operations, particularlyrnuseful for routine operations of LEO spacecraft.rnThe actual configuration and follow-up of thernautomated procedures will be performed from therncentralized Network Operations Centre (NOC) inrnToulouse,rn? Simplified maintenance procedures, most of whichrncan be conducted from the NOC.
