1. The results from this study showed that the resin functionality plays an important role in determining the rate and degree of polymerisation 2. Under normal curing conditions, in the presence of 0.1% HCPK only the hexafunctional acrylate resin systems achieved a cure speed of 20m/min. 3. At 3% only the difunctional Oligomers showed no cure response 4. There was a dramatic improvement in the cure performance of all resins when an inert atmosphere was used. The hexafunctional acrylate oiigomers gave good cure response of 90-100m/min even without HCPK. Additions of low levels (0.1%) of HCPK in combination with a inert nitrogen atmosphere resulted in a significant improvement in cure response of all the resins 6..The Real Time FTIR and photo DSC confirmed the tab observations. Bom techniques clearly showed the difference in cure response of the different resin types and functionality. Furthermore, the analysis also demonstrated the improved cure when a iow level of Pl is used in combination with an inert nitrogen atmosphere 7.The stain resistance showed promising degree of surface conversion with the addition of HCPK, only the hexafunctional without HCPK showed good stain resistance 8.The absence or the lower level of photoiniatiator can reduce costs, reduce the odour which can give free radical chemistry the opportunity to enter such markets as the food and pharmaceutical industries where previously were deemed difficult.
