摘要

A group of 96 Mainland Chinese subjects were asked to respond to twelve questions by indicating their expectations about operation, direction-of-motion, and description of movement for items such as doors, keys,taps and switches. By using the method of fuzzy clustering,strong stereotypes were found for all the questionnaire items. The results of population stereotypes found for Mainland Chinese subjects in this study were compared to that for Hong Kong Chinese and Americans reported earlier in the literature. It was found that the population stereotypes for daily operational tasks found in the three regions are sufficiently similar.
