The current trend of ergonomics design is through virtual mock-up of three-dimensional model. Several applications have been develop to facilitate the increasing need for three-dimensional ergonomics design tool. The most common and widely available tool is Man-modeling system. Several studies have indicated the need for ergonomics design tools to visualize ergonomics issues at the conceptual stage of a concurrent engineering design process. Another study indicated there is a need for man modeling tools that is easy to use by engineers rather than current man modeling tools that still requires ergonomists with specialized training and knowledge. Because of these market requirements research has been to develop a conceptual ergonomics design tool. This paper reports the development of Task Object Man Machine Interaction Evaluation (TOMMIE) Man Modeling System which provides a new approach towards ergonomics design process.
