摘要

Information visualization primarily deals with large-scale, abstract and nonspacial data through computer and then generates interactive graphical representations of information. It is widely used in eco-nomic predicting, business, society and environment problems. This article focuses on the works of researches from Europe and American in the past decade, as well as gives a critically review on those works. This article introduces the design principles of the field of Information Visualizations, the evaluation system and visuali-zation criticism in the field, a number of classic exemplars in the field as well as promising directions of fu-ture developments. The focus is explaining some of the most fundamental concepts, prominent approaches and commonly held criteria. This article also aims to point out theoretical and practical challenges in this field.
