The effect of different air composition on combustion and emission in engines was investigated through experiment and chemical reaction kinetic simulation. The air was separated by selective macromolecule membrane to form the Intake-Air with Variable Composition for controlling combustion and emission and improving the performance of engine in the special conditions. An oxygen-richened stream offers improving combustion and reducing CO and HC, especially in the cold-star phase emissions, or a nitrogen-richened stream reducing NOx emission. This paper studied the Characteristics of combustion and emission with variable intake-air composition and analyzed chemical reaction kinetic process. The recent works aim at exploring an innovative direction of controlling combustion and emission and strengthen theoretical understanding and facilitate a further application and development.
