We studied on the shear performance of nailed wood-joints sheathed with a panel. Load-slip characteristics were calculated with a two dimensional finite element method. We considered bending of a nail, embedment of a nail's shank to a wood or a panel, embedment of a nail-head to a face of a panel, withdrawing of a nail from a wood, friction between a wood and a panel, and initial axial forces of a nail. The material properties were obtained from various tests. In a conventional one-dimensional analysis, it is impossible to predict the shear performance accurately, because an axial force of a nail cannot be counted for. Thus we applied a two-dimensional geometric nonlinear analysis for the simulation. The calculated load-slip curves agreed well with the experimental results. The calculated results were very similar to the experimental results when the friction and the initial axial force were considered.
