The effects of stitching patterns on the puncture resistance of multiple layers of Twaron fabric were studied. Samples consisted of two to four fabric layers were stitched together with nylon threads. The force required by the probe to penetrate the multi-layer stitched samples of vertical, diagonal, square and diamond patterns were compared. A conical shape puncture probe was used. The study found that the 4-layer diamond pattern stitched fabric exhibited the highest force at peak and extension. The diamond stitch pattern was able to restrict the movement of the fabric better than other stitch patterns during the puncture test.
