摘要

The handloom sector of Kota Doria is nurturing a legacy in highly simplified ways; by providing sustainable livelihood and business opportunity to a large community of weavers, dyers, traders and workers, it is contributing large employment in the sector with low investment. Despite of being one of the most demanded hand woven textile, the weavers are socially and economically not in sound position due to profit earning tendency of master weavers and traders. Traditional Kota Doria textiles has a growing market, but power loom substitute and cheap duplicates are making their way in, ignorance of consumer about the genuine product also limits its scope. Hence it is necessary to expand the research on improving the quality and production techniques of this weaving craft and continuous efforts in form of innovation and up gradation are required so the textile can reach new horizons.
