However, most of these radionuclide generators for PET represent secular rather than transient radioactive equilibrea. This asks for sophisticated approaches to guarantee constant elution performances, and low parent breakthrough levels, i.e. long shelf-lives of the systems. The main directions are efficient online eluate processing chemistries for existing generator designs, and the development of next generation generator concepts.
