In the first part of this work, we determine the shape and position of the melting line in a layered superconductor, taking electromagnetic coupling between the layers into account. It is shown, that this coupling leads to a new shape of the melting line at low fields. The second part is concrened with the mapping from vortices to bosons. Using this mapping, we apply a path integral Monte Carlo technique to simulate the properties to the vortex system. We show that the vortex lattice melts directly into an entangled liquid without any intermediate phase. The density of the vortex system increases upon melting, in agreement with experiments.
