This study examines one of the key aspects of IT revolution: software, and attempts to decipher the interaction between globalization and IT industry by looking into the global software market in the last 15 years, during which enormous developments on business application software have been achieved. We examine the status of global software market and the reasons for the current slump, and discuss how software companies can take advantage of the current situation and achieve better competitive edge when global economy returns to normal growth.
