This paper reports on the development of a theory and model of activity-travel reschedulingdecisions. Using activity specific utility functions, the process of how individuals adjust theiractivity program as a function of anticipated time pressure, delays and unexpected eventsduring the execution of their activity program is modeled. Adjustments may involve acombination of changes in activity choice, duration, destination, mode choice, accompanyingperson, timing, trip chain, etc. A set of numerical simulations examines and illustrates theproposed schedule adjustment model. The paper concludes by discussing some avenues forfuture research.
